The Story
From Ernie Altbacker, writer of animated movies such as Batman: Hush, Injustice, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract and Justice League Dark, along with Illustrator Josh White, comes the real story of what goes on at Area 51.
It turns out that Area 51 is a secret government base, but not for storing alien corpses or crashed spacecraft. It’s actually a studio where aliens make low budget galactic reality shows. (The alien corpses and crashed ship were from a student short. Mistakes were made.) Our story centers on one alien producer in particular, Zephril Boon, as he tries to save his once-great career from the flaming dumpster fire that it’s become.
The tone is Douglas Adams meets Men In Black with a pinch of Monty Python. If you like behind the scenes Hollywood comedy shows like Seth Rogan’s The Studio, or The Larry Sanders Show, mixed with Men and Black then this comic is for you! Based on a sci-fi comedy novella by Ernie Altbacker, Area 51 Studios is for fans that like an irreverent tone, comedy, a little violence, and nerdy references.
Issue #1: Earthly Locations at Stellar Prices
Zephril Boon begins production of the grandly titled, but woefully low-budgeted series, The Human Race. ZB, as friends and frenemies alike call him, lives to rub elbows (claws, tentacles, pseudopods, etc.) with the same outrageous, weird, hilarious, and exhilarating personalities and situations that we’re familiar with in “our” Hollywood. Only…more so.
Overcoming pre-production problems with style and grace, and when that doesn’t work complaining and whining, ZB collects his cast. Actors are chosen to maximize their entertainment value for the many and varied galactic viewers.
Let's Meet the Sometimes Unwilling Cast of The Human Race!

Fun fact, the actors were definitely available because they all recently died (or were murdered) and brought back to life by ZB. No, he didn’t kill them. He’s a producer, which means he has a very high moral opinion of himself. ZB just didn’t stop them from being killed. And because of that, they now have a chance to be stars on his new show! See? Wasn’t that great of ZB?

Will The Human Race thrust ZB back into the entertainment industry heavens? Or will it drive the final coffin nail into the long and sputtering downslope of his career? One way or another, it’s going to be entertaining!
